What "Safe" Actually Means
Here's What Happens
After You Hit Report
Most platforms say "actively moderated" and leave it
there. We'd rather show the actual mechanics. When
you tap report during a session, it gets logged with
a timestamp and the reason you selected. That report
sits in a queue a real person checks — not just an
automated keyword filter — usually within 2 hours.
If the report holds up, the account gets banned. We
don't promise instant results because checking takes
a few minutes of an actual human's attention, and
rushing that leads to wrong calls in both directions
— banning someone who didn't do anything, or missing
someone who did.
Here's the part most "safe alternative" pages skip:
no moderation system catches everything before it
happens. Reports are reactive by nature — something
has to occur first for there to be anything to report.
That's true on Chatzyo and it's true everywhere. The
honest version of "safe" is fast, consistent response
— not an impossible promise of zero bad encounters.

Keyword filters miss context constantly — sarcasm,
slang, things that look fine in English but mean

The report button is visible the entire time you're
connected. You don't need to wait until after the call.

Select what happened from the options shown. This
helps whoever reviews it understand the context faster.

A real person checks it
Usually within 2 hours. If it breaks our rules, the
account is banned. You can leave the conversation
immediately — you don't have to wait for the review.
Language Rooms
Moderation Doesn't Skip Your Language
Reports from our Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Kannada and
Malayalam text and voice rooms get the same human
review as everything else — not a lower priority
because the conversation wasn't in English.
Your report goes into a queue that a real person
checks, usually within 2 hours. They look at what
was reported and decide whether it breaks our rules.
If it does, the account gets banned. We don't rely
only on automated filters for this decision.
Not unless you tell them. Chatzyo doesn't show your
name, location or any profile information to the
person you're matched with. The only information
they get is whatever you choose to say.
They carry different risks. Video shows your face
and surroundings, which is more exposure. Text
reveals nothing visual but can still be used for
harassment or scams. Neither is automatically safer
— it depends on what you share.
We require users to confirm they are 18 or older and
enforce this through our terms and active moderation.
Like most platforms without government ID checks, we
cannot independently verify every user's age — which
is why active moderation matters.
Your phone number, home address, workplace, financial
details, or any information that could be used to
find you offline. None of this is needed for a
normal conversation.
No. Any platform connecting strangers carries some
risk, no matter how good the moderation is. The
honest goal is reducing that risk and responding
fast when something goes wrong — not claiming zero
risk.
Yes. Omegle shut down in November 2023 partly
because its moderation was nearly nonexistent —
run by one person with automated filters and
little human oversight. Chatzyo was built with
active human moderation from the start: 18+ only,
every report reviewed by a real person within
2 hours, no tolerance for violations.
No. Video uses WebRTC peer to peer — the stream
travels directly between devices and never passes
through Chatzyo's servers. It's never recorded or
stored. When the call ends it's gone permanently.
Text messages are held in server RAM only and
cleared when your session ends.
No. Chatzyo has no registration system. You join
as a guest — no email, no phone number, no account
of any kind. This is also a privacy protection:
no profile to find, no account to compromise,
nothing stored under your name after you leave.
Three things: active human moderation with every
report reviewed in ~2 hours, a strict 18+ policy
enforced from day one, and no stored video or chat
history. Omegle lacked all three. Chatzyo was built
