Already Banned? Here's What to Do

Last updated June 2026 · Chatzyo.in

If you've landed here because you've been blocked from connecting, this page is about what actually happens next — not router resets or clearing your browser cache, since neither of those does anything here. For what generally causes a restriction in the first place, see Community Guidelines or avoiding bans.

01 What a Restriction Actually Is

Chatzyo doesn't use accounts, so there's no profile being suspended — restrictions apply at the IP address level instead. As covered in Section 7 of our Terms of Service, temporary restrictions last anywhere from 24 hours to 30 days depending on severity, and expire on their own with nothing for you to do. Permanent restrictions are reserved for the more serious categories — explicit content, harassment, illegal activity, automated access, or anything involving a minor.

There's no separate "hardware ban" layered on top of this, and no fingerprinting tied to your device's graphics card or screen size. It's IP-based, which is also why a temporary restriction sometimes resolves itself if your connection's IP address changes for unrelated reasons — not because of any trick, just how IP-based enforcement happens to work.

02 If You Think It Was a Mistake

The only real path is contacting us directly through the Contact page. There's no special ID number to dig up from a ban screen — just tell us roughly when it happened and what you were doing at the time, and we'll look at what we actually have on our end, which is the report itself (category, session details, timestamp), not a recording of the session.

Because we genuinely don't have a transcript or video to review, the context you provide matters. If you remember anything specific about the session — what room you were in, roughly what time it was — include it. We review every appeal individually, and we're not looking for a reason to deny it; we're looking at whether the restriction matches what we can actually see.

✅ What helps an appeal

Approximate date and time, which room or chat mode you were using, and a short, honest account of what happened on your end.

⏱️ What to expect

We aim to respond to legal and account enquiries within 72 hours. If the restriction turns out to be a genuine mistake, we'll lift it. If it was applied correctly, we'll tell you that too, rather than leaving you guessing.

03 Things That Won't Help (and Aren't Needed)

A few specific pieces of advice show up in general "how to get unbanned from chat apps" content online that don't apply to how Chatzyo actually works, so it's worth ruling them out directly:

🚫 Clearing cookies or browser storage

Restrictions aren't tied to anything stored in your browser, so clearing it won't change anything either way.

🚫 Restarting your router for a new IP

This might coincidentally change things if your restriction happens to be IP-based and your IP genuinely changes, but it's not a reliable workaround, and circumventing a restriction this way is itself against our Terms if the original restriction was valid.

🚫 Using a VPN to get back in

Also against our Terms if you're working around a valid restriction, and not something we'd recommend regardless of the reason for the original ban.

The honest, reliable path is the appeal process above — not a technical workaround.
